Local History Museum
Museum
Gavrilov Posad, Rozy Luxemburg Street, 5
There you can listen to fascinating stories by local historians, learn the biography of the Sinebrychoff merchants and see ancient documents as well as items of peasant and merchant life. All of this will let you travel back in time and see how people lived in Gavrilov Posad in different centuries.

Exhibits collected in a merchant's mansion of the early nineteenth century will tell you the history of the town and the whole region of Vladimir-Suzdal Opolye.

The model of the historical center was recreated according to the drawings of the nineteenth century. Looking at this model you can feel the atmosphere of the old town. And a wonderful collection of traditional costumes will let you know how our ancestors dressed and why their outfits were like that.

The museum's history began with a collection of textiles. That is why you can find truly unique textiles here: sundresses, shirts, kosovorotkas (Russian peasant shirts), headscarves, shawls, cossack sweaters and couple dresses (so called "dvoika" dress).
