Ivanovo railway station is one of the symbols of the city. The station house is an example of constructivist architecture built in 1933 by the plan made by an architect V. Kaverinskiy. In 2018-2020 the station was reconstructed according to its historical look and advanced construction technologies.
Due to many textile enterprises Ivanovo was called "the Russian Manchester" and "the capital of calico kings of the Russian Empire".

Ivanovo is described as a reserve of the Russian avant-garde and constructivism. There are more than 30 monuments of early Soviet architecture.

After the October Revolution the city was the third proletarian capital besides Moscow and Petrograd. They planned to make Ivanovo-Voznesensk (now Ivanovo) a capital of Russian SFSR, the biggest region in the Soviet Union.

In the Museum of Industries and Arts there are unique collections of books, weapons, coins and porcelain. The museum was founded by D. Burylyn, a manufacturer and a patron and was one of the best museums of the Russian Empire. It is still called the provincial Hermitage.

In 1905 the first in Russia Soviet of Workers was founded. In honor of it the city received the status of the Motherland of the First Soviet.

Walk the Red Thread tourist route which is devoted to the avant-garde architecture of the 1920s and 1930s. Along the route you can take photos with the constructivist masterpieces in the background, listen to the audio guide and see rare historical photos of "the most soviet city". In the Museum of the First Soviet you can plunge into soviet interiors.
Learn the Russian craft of fabrics printing and see unique and one of the biggest in the world collection of the Russian textiles from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries in the Museum of Ivanovo Calico.
Learn about soviet cars from premium to economy class models. You can do it in the Museum of Soviet Car Industry.
Keep up with contemporary art at the First Factory of The Avant-Garde Modern Art Festival.
See the original paintings by such geniuses of the Russian avant-garde like Malevich, Rodchenko and Rozanova. At the neighbouring exhibition you can see gods and mummies of the Ancient Egypt. It is possible not only at the galleries in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg but at the Ivanovo Region Museum of Arts.
