This is the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Kineshma. The complex consists of two stone churches: the summer Assumption church (1745) and the winter Trinity church (1838) together with a five-tiered bell tower-belfry, towering over the river, Volzhsky Boulevard and the buildings of the central part of the city. The best view of the Cathedral is seen from the water.
In the Assumption church there are many ancient icons and church utensils, including the icon of the Mother of God Theodore of the seventeenth century and the myrrh-streaming Iveron icon of the Blessed Virgin.
