Plyos, Gora Levitana Street
The Levitan's Hill is a place for contemplation and meditation that inspired the artist to paint a famous masterpiece Over Eternal Peace. There you can always find landscape painters from all over Russia.
According to the legend, the view from the hill stoke Levitan that much so he immediately decided to settle in Plyos. And this is that hill where Levitan painted most of his Plyos landscapes. That is why the monument of him is located on this hill.
Unfortunately, the wooden church painted on Levitan's works of art was burnt. But at the end of the seventeenth century its copy was replaced there. As the result, the views that inspired Levitan still remain almost the same.
